POV Alaria. Inside. Late Afternoon. Alaria holds her baby close to her chest. David and her are talking about the babies that are slowly being taken by the ‘monsters’. David starts to speak really loud so Alaria warns him that the baby is asleep. David speaks quieter to Alaria. A scream is heard.
POV Alaria. Outside. Late Afternoon. David and Alaria run up to a group of the colonists. Another baby has been taken. David suggests they form a hunting party. Some of the colonists argue, because of the lack of ammunition, but David claims it is necessary. Another colonist suggests they form two separate parties to head off in opposite directions. None of the men stay back with the children and women of the colony.
POV David. Outside. Dusk. David leads a group of men in search of the Unkrians. David hears the noises of the Unkrians, and the shadows of the forest scare him and the rest of the group. Suddenly a ship speeds across the sky, it glows brightly, lighting up the forest. David thinks it may have landed near the colony. David decides they should investigate, worried for the safety of his wife and son, and also secretly hoping that there will be ammunition, weapons and some sort of energy source for their force field generators.
POV Trison. Outside. Dusk. Trison and his group of men hear scurrying in the trees ahead and go to investigate. They stand below the trees to search for the source of the noise, guns at the ready. Suddenly the sky becomes bright and the trees are lit up. The men turn to look for the source of the light and Trison moves away from the trees to see. One of the men screams as something grabs him from above. Trison turns around and sees the man’s wide frightened eyes as he’s dragged up into the trees. The men look up and see bright green eyes all around, staring coldly down at them. The men shoot. Trison watches in horror as each of his men disappear into the trees amongst screams and shots. The last man disappears and one final shot is heard before a single cap falls to the ground, rolling up to Trison’s feet.
POV Alaria. Outside. Dusk. Alaria holds Jrake tightly against her chest as the light from the crashing spaceship floods the night sky. The other women of the colony watch in awe and wonder, their faces flooded in light, their eyes sparkling in the brightness. Then a scream is heard. The women panic, Alaria tries to calm them but more screams follow. The women run back to their dwellings, leaving Alaria clutching Jrake tightly against her chest, a tear rolling down her eye as she whispers ‘this was never our dream…’
POV Alaria. Outside. Night. David and his group of men have discovered the spaceship. It doesn’t seem damaged apart from the seething hot temperatures surrounding it. Alaria is with the men, the other women now in hiding in fear of their safety and of their children’s. David sends a few men back to the colony for the women to feel some protection. After it has cooled David orders 2 of his men to stay with his wife and then he and the men enter the spaceship.
POV. David. Inside. Night They find no one, no people, no corpses. They enter many rooms before entering the main control room. A voice speaks to them from the walls, the floors and all around. David ignores the computer’s questions and asks if there is any weapons or batteries on board. The computer ignores him, and suddenly a flash of light floods the room and the men fall to the ground in unmerciful sleep, with visions of monsters stalking them in the night.
